New energy vehicle sales in May: BYD overtakes Tesla, ideals decline, Nezha "small surprise"

According to data from the China Passenger Transport Association, in May, Tesla's wholesale sales in China were 33,463 vehicles, an increase of 29.5% month-on-month and 202% year-on-year. The number of orders for DM-i related models has exceeded 100,000. With the continuous delivery of DM-i models and a large number of new orders, BYD is likely to win the next China's new energy vehicle sales champion this year. On May 19, 2021, BYD held the official roll-off ceremony of its one millionth new energy vehicle, becoming the first Chinese brand to join the "Million Vehicles Club" of new energy vehicles. At present, the cumulative sales of new energy vehicles in the world have exceeded 1 million, one is Tesla and the other is BYD. The biggest surprise in May was that in terms of monthly sales, Nezha would be overtaken by Nezha. Supply chain fluctuations and delivery adjustments brought about by chips have affected NIO's sales in May.
